Day 8: MOAB - DEAD HORSE POINT - CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK - MONUMENT VALLEY - MEXICAN HAT

Friday, October 16, 2009

Today we get up early, although a little more than what we did yesterday when we were going from Lehi to Arches National Park. At 5 in the morning we are already on the floor to leave the Inca Inn Motel to start a day that presents itself of film.
Yesterday we hesitated to cancel our visit to Canyonlands National Park, we only have time to get to know the Island in the Skye area, for wanting to arrive on time to Monument Valley, another of the points we will visit today.

Now, after the experience, we have to say what a bad thing we didn't do it, because it has been one of the best landscapes we have seen so far in all our trips.

Canyonlands National Park

We headed straight to Dead Horse Point in Canyonlands National Park, a park that does not enter the National Pass and that we have to pay, by means of an envelope where we put the 10 dollars of the entrance and put it in a mailbox, since there is nobody at this time at the entrance ticket office.
As we approach the viewpoint ofDead horse point, we are surprised more. It is impressive and more considering that we have arrived just at dawn.
Today we can say that we have breakfast with incredible views.

After taking hundreds of photos and checking that we have been at this point in the park for two hours, we will head to the Canyonlands National Park, our second park scheduled for today.
It takes half an hour to arrive and we can assure you that Dead horse point It is impressive, it has left us speechless.

Canyonlands National Park

We do the whole tour, including a couple of short trails in which, as we ascend the terrain, the better the views we have.

Canyonlands National Park

We haven't seen the Grand Canyon yet, so we can't comment, but one thing is clear, if it's better than this, I'm sure we'll hallucinate.
About 12 in the morning we left for Monument Valley, another of the strengths of today. We eat en route, in a Subway, which is not all bad, and as with this short stop to eat we have gained a little time, we take the opportunity to stop at the meander goosenecks also known as themeanders of the San Juan River.

A dream landscape, where we are only 30 minutes due to lack of time, although enough to bring us an incredible memory, spectacular photos and a postcard landscape.

In the end with the stops we make on the route we arrive at Monument Valley About 4 in the afternoon. The first thing we do is go to the Visitor Center and leave us a few dollars in purchases since until now we had not found any place to buy one thing or another.
After these purchases we go directly with our rental car in the United States to the tracks that run through one of the most incredible places we have seen so far, Monument Valley. We do not see surrounded by sand and more sand, with spectacular landscapes. Awesome.

Monument Valley

We stay in Monument Valley until the sun begins to set, stopping at every point we go through to take pictures.
In the end we have been in Monument Valley for about 3 hours and about 7 in the afternoon we leave to go to what will be our accommodation today, the Mexican Hat Lodge

It is quite good and more when they come to look for us in the room they have given us, to tell us that they have been wrong about the room and that ours is a bigger one, that we find perfect to rest after a day as complete as today.
After reading the opinions we can not miss the opportunity to dine in their restaurant where they serve a very good meat, highly recommended by the locals.
Live music, maybe altogether a little expensive, but worth it for the atmosphere and the food.
About 10 at night and almost without standing we went to our room to rest.
