Day 5: NICE - GRASSE - LAS GARGANTAS DE VERDON - LLORET DE MAR

Sunday, September 13, 2009

Today we get back early, as we did yesterday to go to Monaco and before reloading our bags in the car we had breakfast at the All Season Hotel in Nice and we set off Grasse located in Provence. Today we also want to visit the Verdon Gorges before returning home and although we do not have much time, we hope to extend the day to see them.
Grasse It is a town that catches our attention and we really want to visit. The town is a world center of the industry dedicated to the production of perfumes and fragrances and is also the stage of much of the novel The perfume.
Here we visit the International Perfume Museum, but since we don't have much time, we don't spend as much time as we would like and in the store we only go around to get an idea.
An interesting option is to book this workshop on the creation of fragrances that will allow you to create your own perfume and take it home.
We take the road back to Lloret de Mar, to deviate a little from the route and head to les Gorges du Verdon or the Gorges of Verdon, calcareous cliffs that can reach more than 700 meters and form a spectacular canyon.
The viewpoint of l'EscalèsIt is the first one where we stop on a 23km route along a road that runs through the entire canyon. It offers stunning views of the cliffs and the Verdon River.

The Gorges of Verdon

We go through the car with the throats stopping at several of the viewpoints that we find along the way. In one of them we took the opportunity to go down and make a small route along the river. We do not have all the necessary time to make a longer route, but it allows us to enjoy the sound of the river and the impressive cliffs.

The Gorges of Verdon

No wonder this is a destination for adventure sports enthusiasts.

After this viewpoint we cross the rest of the canyon until we reach a town where we take the opportunity to eat and go to Lloret de Mar, ending what has been our escape along the Côte d'Azur.
