Although we know that it is very difficult to make a list of places to eat in Tokyo, we will try to make a selection of those that have been for us some of the best options, among which we also include some that, despite good opinions, have not finished liking us as much as we expected.
This list is made after our two visits to the Japanese country, the first one on the trip to Japan for free and the second when we spend two months in the country, after which we publish the guide to travel to Japan, in which This post is included.

As we did in the article on where to eat in Kyoto, we also leave you some basic tips to keep in mind to eat in Tokyo and throughout Japan.

Basic tips for eating at restaurants in Japan

Something to keep in mind is that it is not the same to eat in a restaurant in Japan as in any other place in Asia or Europe.
In Japan there are certain unwritten rules, which should be taken into account, especially to enjoy the cuisine and show respect towards our hosts, which in this case will be the restaurants.
If you want to know these basic tips, something else highly recommended, do not miss the post Where to eat in Kyoto, in which we talked about this topic in the first part of it.

Where to eat in Tokyo: Recommended restaurants

Sushizanmai Shibuya East Entrance
The Sushizanmai Shibuya East Entrance restaurant is one of the most recommended sushi to eat in Tokyo that belongs to a sushi chain, which can be found in Tokyo and Osaka.
The concept is like a "100 Montaditos"Spanish, in which you write the pieces you want on a piece of paper and after giving it to the waiter, they serve you.
The pieces of nigiris are unitary and prices range from 98 yen (tortilla), to 560 yen the most expensive tuna.
In general, in this place, the quality / price ratio is not bad, but we believe it is not the best we have tried in Japan.
Although we want to highlight that the places they have in the Tsukiji Fish Market, they are among the best we have tried.

Soranoiro Honten (Head Shop)
The Soranoiro Honten (Head Shop), is a small ramen restaurant where to eat in Tokyo, located at Tokyo Station, at 1-3-10 Hirakawacho, Chiyoda 102-0093, in the famous "Ramen Street".
In addition to being one of the few restaurants that offers the possibility of eating vegetarian ramen, it is well known for having come out in 2015 in the Tokyo Michelin Guide.
Keep in mind that the menu only has two types of ramen, one normal and one vegetarian, to which you can add eggs for an additional price. Each bowl costs approximately 1050 yen and you can add a healthy salad or smoothie for 150 yen.
Highly recommended!

Bairin Ginza Honten
Bairin Ginza Honten is one of the most recommended restaurants in the Tokyo Station area to eat tonkatsu and one of the places to eat in Tokyo that you cannot miss if you like Japanese food.
The average price of the menu is 1700 yen and includes a piece of tonkatsu of 130 grams plus rice and miso.
Although it was good, it is impossible to compare it with Katsukura, one of the restaurants we recommend where to eat in Kyoto and where we tasted several times, an incredible tonkatsu.

Ichiran
The Ichiran Restaurant, located at 1-22-7 Jinnan | Iwamoto Bldg. B1F, Shibuya 150-0041 (although there is more in the city), it is one of the most recommended places to eat in Tokyo If you want to taste a good ramen.
They also have stores in Kyoto, although we don't try them.

There are usually enough people, so we recommend you go early to avoid queuing up. The procedure may seem a bit complicated initially, although it is quite intuitive: In the queue you will find a guy who will give you some papers that you must fill out and that include questions such as how you want the texture of the noodles, what ingredients you want to add, the grade of spicy… etc. If you don't want anything special, we recommend pointing out the option "half", which is what they recommend. Once you have filled out the papers, you will go to a machine where you have to pay and you will get a ticket with your choice, which you must give to the waiter, who will serve you in a few minutes your plate of ramen
The average price is 800 yen per ramen.
Great!

Although it is very large, there is usually a lot of queue, but at the same time it usually goes very fast, so it is worth waiting for.
The price of sushi varies according to the type of fish, starting with 108 yen (two nigiris). To take into account that in the menu there are more types of dishes of Japanese cuisine, which are not fish.
You can sit at the bar or at the table, placing the order through an Ipad or directly on some forms, which you must then give to the waitress and they will arrive at the table through the conveyor belt.
The price of the nigiris dish goes from 100 to 500 yen the most expensive.

The place is very large and even if you see a lot of queue, it goes fast, so you won't wait too long. The restaurant concept is at least curious: you have to order on an Ipad and your order will reach your bar area through the conveyor belt.
Although it is highly recommended, we believe it is mainly for its cheap prices, since in terms of quality, in our opinion, it falls a little short. Of course, if you want to eat a lot, at tight prices and try these types of restaurants, it is worth it.

We understand that Shake Shack is probably not the most appropriate recommendation for eat in Tokyo, although we have to say that it is very worthwhile to go to one of the places in Tokyo, especially if you are a few days and want to get away from the incredible Japanese cuisine for a few hours.
We have gone to two different throughout our stay in Tokyo and we have to say that although they are not the same as the New York burgers, they are very similar.
The price of a basic menu is somewhat more expensive than initially expected, the final account being 3300 yen for two menus.
